Marvin Marvin Gruenbaum is a Kansas City jazz violinist, known for his highly diverse musical and technical skills. An alumni of the UMKC Conservatory of Music, he is a classically trained violin/violist and a current member of the Kansas City Symphony viola section
(since 1982). As an aficionado of several alternative styles, he has enjoyed the opportunity to arrange and perform as Bluegrass/Jazz violin soloist with the Symphony on over 30 occasions. He also served as fiddle player for 21 years for the local
“progressive” Bluegrass group, “Spontaneous Combustion,” and currently is the featured Jazz violinist with “A La Mode,” as well as “Hot Strings Trio” (Jazz) and “3 Trails West” (Western Swing).
